Hanging Rock Whrlogoinery in the Macedon ranges produce quite a variety of quality wines such as the Jim Jim Sauv Blanc, the Cambrian Rise Shiraz and the Heathcote Shiraz and Reserve Shiraz. They were really amongst the first to "discover" Heathcote. But they hang their hat on the quality of their Macedon sparkling wines. There are three in the line up.

One of the best Aussie sparklings of all must be the Bollinger-like Hanging Rock Macedon Brut LD Cuvee VIII NV - $99.90. Included in James Halliday's Best of the Best in the 2010 Australian Wine Companion with a score of 95 points, this wine has spent an average of ten years on yeast lees, building an incredible depth of complexity and richness.

The other sparklings in the line up follow, along with links to James Halliday's reviews.

Hanging Rock Macedon Cuvee XII NV - $35.00 - 92 points from James  Halliday. "Bright gleaming green-gold.....click here for full review

Hanging Rock Macedon Brut Rose NV - $23.50 - 92 points fromJames Halliday. “Salmon-pink; good mouse.....click here for full review

Blue Pyrenees Cabernet Sauvignon 2008 - $15.25 per bottle (on a minimum one dozen order) won Best Dry Red Wine in the Commerical Classes at the recent Royal Sydney Wine Show. This wine has been flying out the door over the past week, so much so that we had to get in more stock. But it's now in store. Order now.

The Gemtree Uncut Shiraz 2008 - $18.50 is the current Wine of the Month. This really is cracking value. James Halliday rated it at 95 points and recommends drinking through to 2028!! More detail here.

There are plenty of great bargain buys in Bin Ends and Specials so it’s worth having a browse here.

Try using the Search feature on this site to narrow down the wines by country, price, varietal or even vintage. These options are available in the left hand column. For example, if you are looking for a good Cabernet from $15-20, select the $15-20 price bracket under Shop by price range and then select Cabernet Sauvignon under Shop by varietal. A list of wines will be displayed. Then you can click on the ‘i’ icon to get more information about each wine or add the wine to the shopping cart.

Like to find new wines, perhaps labels you have never heard of?  I would come across at least one new label every week and I’m doing this full time!  There are just so many labels available so we’ve picked a couple that are actually great quality as well. Check out New Discoveries here.
