Please find below details of a Press Release regarding the Blue Pyrenees Cabernet Sauvignon 2008. It's good to see a familiar old label ressurecting itself with some quality wines. I've got this wine on special at $15.25 per bottle by the dozen. Cellar door price is $18.00. Please also note further below the good review from Campbell Mattison. And what's really great about this wine is that it's an 'each way' bet. Good for drinking now but will cellar for a number of years.

The newly released 2008 Blue Pyrenees Cabernet Sauvignon collected the Trophy for the Best Dry Red Wine in the highly regarded Macquarie Group Sydney Royal Wine Show 2010 on Thursday 11th February.

This most prestigious wine competition in Australia which was founded in 1822, now attracts more than 2300 entries and is typically dominated by some of the industry’s biggest names. The Perpetual Trophy awarded to the Best Dry Red Wine in the Commercial Classes (Classes 9 to 14) is one of the shows most esteemed awards and is sponsored by the Wine Communicators of Australia.

The trophy was presented to Blue Pyrenees at the presentation dinner hosted by Macquarie Bank.

Resulting from an exceptional vintage, the 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon is possibly Blue Pyrenees’s best varietal Cabernet produced in its long history. Although 2008 was a growing season of contrasts across the continent, the Pyrenees had one of their best vintages in years. Fortunately this cool climate region was less affected by the heatwave experienced in many regions, and across the range 2008 was outstanding for Blue Pyrenees.

In 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon made up 14% of the total Australian wine grape crush, up 40% on the previous vintage, and third in predominance to Chardonnay (24.3%) and Shiraz (23.8%). However at Blue Pyrenees approximately 20% (approx 30 hectares) of the Estate is currently planted to premium quality Cabernet Sauvignon as it’s a variety that thrives in the Estate's cool climate.

“This is the best red release from Blue Pyrenees for ages. Value, flavour, quality, texture - it’s good from all those angles. It tastes of blackcurrant, chocolate, pencils, mint and blackberry jubes. There’s a bitterness - almost a smokiness - on the finish, but the texture and flavour of the wine is so good, that it carries it. If it stretched out through the finish better, I’d have rated it higher. Excellent value, for certain. 92 Points. Drink 2011-2017” – Campbell Mattison, The Wine Front

So order up!  Remember - price is $15.25 per bottle by the dozen and stocks arrive in the next couple of days for shipping late this week.
